3 Cans Express: A Powerful Night of Community, Generosity, and Impact

What started as a last-minute idea became one of the most meaningful gatherings of the season. With the government shutdown affecting families right before Thanksgiving, our community showed up with heart, speed, and purpose for 3 Cans Express — and together, we raised an incredible 937 pounds of food for Mission Southside.

Hosted by Urban Cool Homes KC and the ACA Business Club of Olathe, the event came together in just two weeks. Even with the quick turnaround, the response was overwhelming. People showed up with bags, boxes, and cases of food. Friends brought friends. Families dropped off donations after work. Sponsors stepped up instantly to make sure the night felt warm, welcoming, and full of gratitude.

A Simple Event With a Big Impact

3 Cans Express wasn’t as structured as our larger quarterly 3 Cans & A Good Time events — and that became part of its charm. Guests enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches donated by DMC Service, free drinks, giveaways, and a relaxed environment where people could drop in, grab a meal, connect, and give back.

In just two hours, our community delivered nearly half a ton of food. Every can, every pound, and every moment helped lighten the load for local families facing uncertainty this holiday season.
