3 Cans Express: A Night of Giving, Community, and Hope

As Thanksgiving approaches, many Kansas City families are feeling the strain of the recent government shutdown — and this year, more than ever, our neighbors need us. That’s why Urban Cool Homes KC and the ACA Business Club of Olathe are coming together for a special, short-notice event called 3 Cans Express, happening Monday, November 17th from 6–8 PM at the ACA Business Club of Olathe.

This isn’t our typical full-scale 3 Cans & A Good Time gathering. It’s a simpler, more spontaneous version — but one that’s every bit as meaningful. The goal remains the same: to rally our community to collect food and raise hope for those who need it most. All donations from this event will go directly to Mission Southside, helping stock their food pantry and fill empty shelves right before the holidays.

Food, Friends & Generosity in Action

We’ll be serving pulled pork sandwiches donated by the incredible team at DMC Service, along with free drinks, giveaways, and plenty of good company. Guests are invited to bring canned goods and nonperishable food items — and to stay for as long as they’d like. There’s no strict agenda this time — just a relaxed, come-as-you-are evening focused on connection and compassion.

Why This Matters Now

The need in our community is greater than ever. For families suddenly facing uncertainty due to the shutdown, even basic groceries can feel out of reach. Together, we can lighten that load. What started as a small idea — three cans at a time — has grown into something much bigger: a reminder that when Kansas City steps up, we show what community truly means.

Whether you can bring a few cans or a full carload, your presence makes a difference. Every can, every handshake, every shared moment matters.
